I was perhaps one of the few, must learn this new approach in education – Understanding by Design (UBD) – Filipino educators from a seminar given by none other than the promoter Grant Wiggins.

But first. What is the understanding of design?

First This is a pedagogical approach.

UBD nature makes the recommendation and support as an option, so there is no pressure on the teachers who think they may have to learn by hook or by crook, to implement and UBD, because it will be implemented widely and forcibly. It will not.

Second It is created to meet the need to patch the gap between theory and application.

Like any other teaching methods, UBD aims to solve the problem of choice of illiteracy in the world. But UBD target a specific aspect of learning: the relevance of education for life after school.

Third It represents a new concept – rear design – taken with the old approaches to teaching, but this time in reverse.

The words “old” and “backward”, the cast may be connected with the idea of ??a “new approach” on many issues, if the eyebrows (the skeptics interested parties). UBD believes that the cause of the reading, what children learn in school today – that everything they taught that it was useful to the practical needs of daily life of individuals. Free character education lesson plans, the issue is much desired by the educators. It reminds me of the idiom: “. If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars turn” first recorded around 1628 in a Scottish collection of proverbs suggests, this idiom, that if we get what we want would be easier just to do with the desire of our life.
